Bio Information:

When she was just 19-years old, Claire was involved in a motorbike accident which left her paralysed in her left arm.

She began her professional sporting career in cycling where she attended and won a bronze medal at the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games. Following this she went on to win gold in the 2006 World Championships road race.

Claire was named the UWA Sports Star of the Year in 2005 and WAIS Disabled Athlete of the Year in 2007 as a reflection of her remarkable sporting achievements.

Whilst she had competed in triathlon at a recreational level for several years, she first competed at the International level in 2012 having narrowly missed selection for the 2012 Australian Paralympic cycling team.

McLean came third in her first International race, the 2012 ITU Para-triathlon World Championships.
