The WAIS Program of the Year will be unveiled at the Institute’s Awards night held at the Pan Pacific in Perth next Thursday, November 16.

The Program of the Year celebrates the outstanding work carried out by the coaching and service staff that underpin the athlete performances supported by WAIS.

Program Sports at WAIS are clustered into Podium, National Teams and National Programs. Each Program is coach led and athlete focused and comes under the guidance of a Team Director, who orchestrates a connected network of support and service staff, who work collaboratively across each of the sports within their cluster.

The WAIS Program of the Year is an open category award, with all 11 WAIS Program Sports eligible. The key criteria in determining the most outstanding Program is assessed through athlete performance against expectation, as well as factoring the effectiveness of Program staff in assisting performance outcomes.

The Program of the Year is presented in recognition of WAIS staff achievement and stands alongside the WAIS Coach of the Year.

The WAIS Awards also showcase the peak achievements of the Institute’s athletes, with key awards presented for the Athlete of the Year and Junior Athlete of the Year.

In 2016, the Men’s Water Polo Program earned the Program of the Year title.
