Michael Hussey was born in Perth on May 27, 1975.

Affectionately known as “Mr Cricket” because of his devotion to the game, Hussey is one of the finest batsmen produced in Western Australia.

Hussey was selected for Australia in all three forms of the game at a relatively late stage in his first-class career. He played 79 Test matches for Australia and accumulated 6235 runs at the outstanding average of 51.53, including 19 centuries.

He had adapted his game to suit the shorter forms of competition and excelled in those areas as well, averaging just under 50 in the one-day format.

Renowned for his concentration and dedication Hussey was the ultimate team player who won the respect of teammates and opponents alike.

Inducted into the Western Australian Hall of Champions on November 11, 2024.
