Aussie Sharks put on brave fight for Aaron Younger’s 200th game
The Aussie Sharks made a strong start to their first international game in a year and a half, before ultimately going down 10-15 to Montenegro.
Doubling as captain Aaron Younger’s 200th game the Sharks were flying early to take three goals in a row, including two by WA players George Ford and Tim Putt.
Despite the strength of their European rivals, the Sharks continued to lead until midway through the third quarter when Montenegro came in to their own, powering away to a five goal victory.
“We started off well and obviously lost concentration towards the end and let in some pretty bad goals,” Younger said.
“So we are going to focus on the defense now and we have a lot of positives to take away from the first half but there is a lot to work on as well.
“Definitely a lot of positives to take out of it but there is definitely a lot we need to go and work on. It will be tough, we will finish this game, debrief about this game and then we can focus on the next game.”
The Aussie Sharks return to the pool on Tuesday 27 July at 6:50PM where they play 2016 silver medallists Croatia.
