The Aussie Spirit have finished second at the Australia Pacific Cup in strong signs for their Tokyo Olympic campaign, improving on their third place finish a year ago.

After winning four of their six pool games The Aussie Spirit faced a tough semifinal against Mexico to book a spot in the final. Having lost to Mexico in a close game earlier in the tournament the pressure was on in the close game. It went down to the the final inning, where Leigh Godfrey hit the ball to right field allowing Shannon Keevers to run home to claim the victory 3-2 and book a spot in the final.



Japan was a dominant force in the final taking the lead in the second innings and never looking back, keeping Australia off the scoreboard to claim the series 7-0.

The Australia A team including Verity Long-Droppert finished the tournament in fifth.
