Paul Oberman's side remains undefeated in Serbia

WAIS athletes Luke Quinlivan, Nick O’Halloran, Aaron Younger and Joel Swift have helped Australia cruise into the semi-finals of the water polo competition at the Universiade in Belgrade, with a 8-4 win over the United States taking them into the final four.

The victory over the USA leaves the team, which is coached by WAIS water polo coach Paul Oberman, undefeated heading into Friday’s semi-final.

A tight first half saw the scores tied at the major break, with both sides scoring three goals but it wasn’t long before Oberman’s side asserted their dominance.

A four goal to one third term saw the Australians open a handy lead going into the home straight, a lead which they solidified with a one goal to nil final quarter. The final score saw the boys in green and gold record a four goal victory.

Quinlivan continued to perform well between the posts, saving 10 out of 14 shots at 71.4%.  His WAIS colleagues O’Halloran and Younger scored a goal each while Swift spent minimal time in the pool.

All four are expected to feature again in Friday’s semi-final.
