Australian Rollers and Gliders claim gold at 2022 Asia Oceania Championships

Australia’s National Wheelchair Basketball Teams, the Rollers and Gliders have made a strong return to international competition with victories at the 2022 Asia Oceania Championships in Phuket.

The Gliders including WAIS trio, Amber Merritt, Georgia Inglis and Sarah Vinci, went undefeated throughout the tournament to meet Japan in the final. Merritt was on another scoring spree with 40 points in the 54-46 victory to be named in the All Star Five and MVP.

In the men’s competition Tom McHugh, Shaun Norris, Jake Kavanagh, Phil Evans and Frank Pinder were part of the dominant Rollers Team. The Rollers won six of the their games to set up a match for gold against Iran.
