Two first half goals to Matt Gohdes has helped the Burras maintain their unbeaten record at the 2009 Men’s Junior World Cup, defeating Korea 3-1 to move one step closer to the tournament finals.

Gohdes, the cousin of Kookaburra superstar Jamie Dwyer, opened the scoring early for the Kookaburras at the four minute mark and then following up again at the 13 minute mark.

The Burras continued their dominance throughout the first half, recording 16 circle penetrations and producing eight shots on goal, however were unable to extend their lead any further at the half time break.

A goal to Tim Bates at the 53 minute mark extended the Burras lead, however coach Jason Duff will have been disappointed to have concede a goal in the final minute of the match.

“It was a dominant first half performance, however we were less polished in the second half,” said Duff.

WAIS athletes Chris Bausor and Matt Boyce are both part of the Burras squad.

The Burras will next play New Zealand in Singapore on Wednesday 17 June.
