WAIS’s hockey athletes have continued to shine in the AHL, with the WA Diamonds top of the table heading into the sixth round.

Despite losing their first round match against NSW, the Diamonds have gone on a four match winning streak to send an ominous warning to the rest of the competition.

WA chalked up their first win in round two with a 6-1 win over NT Pearls. Round three saw WA outclass South Australia 4-0 and the girls made it three in a row with a 1-0 win over Victoria.

The fifth round match against Queensland was billed as one of the games of the tournament, with WA striking a two goal lead through WAIS athletes Emily Halliday in the 13th minute and Hope Munro two minutes later. Queensland struck one back but couldn’t penetrate a galvanized WA defence with score remaining 2-1 to the Diamonds.

WA’s next match is on Tuesday 1 April against Tasmania.
