Eyes on August 1st

All this Olympic action gets a thumbs up from me!

I hope you’re all enjoying the Games! It’s so awesome watching our amazing WAIS athletes and staff, reach their dreams and goal of representing their country at an Olympic games.

SO much hard work, and endless hours go into an athlete performing at this level. Whatever their sport or event, it’s a result of everyone’s hard work; the program, the coaches, the staff, the athlete and the organizations that fund it all. And it’s so great watching the product of all the hard work, wearing the green and gold, and represent us all.

Our women’s Hockey team won 3-1 over Germany last night. Fiona and Hope worked hard and well together, to tie the game near half time with Germany. It’s really great to see not only our WAIS athletes contributing, but also working together to build the team’s performance.

The Sharks got their first win against Kazakhstan 7-4. Cleland and Beadsworth getting mentions on their star efforts in the match.

Our Volleyball team including WA’s Luke Smith won their game against Great Britain. Hearty effort by our Aussies!!

And Maley placed sixth in the C1, which is a great result for our WAIS Canoe/Slalom representative! Just sit back for a second and really think about what that means. Sixth in the WORLD for Kynan Maley. Surely an incredible achievement for this bloke and one we are all proud of.

Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month, and this is who you’ll look for…

The Kookaburras will take on Spain in the first preliminary match of the day. The Stingers will take on Great Britain and our joining in on the WA representative action will be Sally Foster.

Her name may sound familiar, and not just because of the Australian brand of beer. But this is Foster’s second Olympic games after making her debut in Beijing 2008. She will be swimming in the 200 Breaststroke, so let’s cheer Sally on as she makes her splash in London.

I know I will, Olivia Vivian
