Four WAIS athletes selected for World League Intercontinental Cup
WAIS representation on the Aussie Stingers and Aussie Sharks remains strong with four athletes selected to National Teams for the FINA World League Intercontinental Cup in Peru in March.
Dual Olympian Zoe Arancini has been selected to the Aussie Stingers and remains a key component of the fifth-place finishers from Tokyo. In the Aussie Sharks Tokyo Olympian Tim Putt is joined by Luke Pavillard and debutant John Hedges.
With limited international competition over the last two years outside the Olympic Games, due to COVID-19 the World League Intercontinental Cup is an important return to competition.
Both the Stingers and Sharks team have a mix of experience and youth as they look towards the World Championships and 2024 Olympic Games.
Recently appointed Aussie Stingers Head Coach Paul Oberman who served as WAIS Head Coach for a decade is looking forward to a youthful team. “I want to test out some of the younger athletes and provide an opportunity for some new members of the Stingers squad,” Oberman said.
“I aim to build a team for Paris and beyond and we want to provide opportunities for some new members of the Stingers squad,” Oberman said.
