Gold medals calling for wheelchair basketball and men’s 3×3 teams 

Australian basketball 3×3 teams are all in contention for medals, at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, the first time 3×3 basketball has featured at the Games. The women’s and men’s wheelchair 3×3 teams and men’s 3×3 basketball team will contending for gold, while the women will play for bronze.

It will be an Australian and Canadian affair in the wheelchair basketball gold medal matches. In the women’s WAIS scholarship holders Amber Merritt and Georgia Inglis will be hoping to bring the gold home. Fellow scholarship holder Jake Kavanagh will play in the men’s.

Greg Hire and Jesse Wagstaff will face Canada in the men’s gold medal game, having dispatched home nation England 12-11 in the semi final.

WAIS scholarship holder Lauren Scherf will face New Zealand in the women’s bronze medal match.
