Sochi Winter Olympian Greta Small has competed at the recent FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Beaver Creek.
The 19 year-old WAIS scholarship holder contested three events at the Championships, with an 18th position finish in the Ladies Alpine Combined her best result overall.
Small produced a strong list of results, particularly when considering the World Ski Championships allow nations to field four competitors per country, which is one more than the three per nation at Winter Olympic level.
With a host of world class skiers across Europe’s famed mountain regions, Small’s efforts were on par with her Olympic debut in Russia in 2014, which represents progress for the teenager when set against the broader calibre of talent at World Championship level.
Her time of 2:39.39 in the Alpine Combined was good enough for a top 20 spot, with Slovakian Tina Maze claiming gold ahead of Austrian duo Nicole Hosp and Michaela Kirchgasser.
Small registered a 29th position finish in the Super G, with Austrian Anna Fenninger first ahead of Maze in second.
Maze however, returned to the top of the podium in the Ladies Downhill, edging Fenninger and Swiss competitor Lara Gut. Small finish six seconds off the pace in 33rd position.
