Hockey Australia Identifying Hockeyroos Depth

Hockey Australia will host a 38-strong national women’s hockey program camp in Perth later this month as it aims to increase the depth of the Hockeyroos’ selection pool.

The squad will consist of 21 senior national team athletes, 15 national development squad members and two athletes from the national junior squad.

WAIS athletes; Ashleigh Nelson (senior), Kathryn Slattery (senior), Penny Squibb (development) and Kyra Flynn (development) have all been invited to attend, with the camp set to include practise matches against Asian Games champions Korea, with the Australians separated into A and B squads.

The camp will precede a busy end to 2015 for the national program, with September hosting the Australian Hockey League before the Hockeyroos embark on the Oceania Cup (October) and December’s World League Finals.

The WA Diamonds recently announced its extended 23 member squad for AHL, with a series of WAIS athletes included.
