Hockeyroos Challenge the High Ranks

The Hockeyroos will take on some of the world’s best in South Africa in the Investec Challenge which commence February fourth.

The squad of 18 including WAIS athlete Fiona Boyce, will kick start the challenge with a match against Holland before taking on South Africa on the fifth, and England on the seventh. 

Head coach Adam Commens selected the young touring team to challenge the number one ranked Dutch and number four ranked England with previous encounters with these teams ending in mixed results.

“It’s going to be a real challenge for our group. Our opponents are really good sides and we’re always looking to find matches against the world’s best to continually challenge the group.” Commens said. 

The tour becomes a chance for some players to return to the field after injury, while for other young players it provides a great learning experience against the top ranked teams.
