Hockeyroos Fightback for 3-2 Win in Argentina

WAIS hockey athlete Ashleigh Nelson has scored a dramatic winner in Australia’s 3-2 come from behind win over Argentina in Mendoza over night.

After a tense first half with few opportunities at either end, the players produced a goal frenzy in the second period with Argentina quickly staking a two-nil lead before strikes from Kate Hollywood, Madonna Blyth and Ashleigh Nelson gained Australia a second consecutive win over the Argentineans and a two-nil lead in the five Test series.

Australia has already secured a series win over Spain, and now needs only one victory in the remaining three Tests in Argentina to head home with a tour clean sweep.

The Hockeyroos also impressed earlier this year at the Champions Trophy, finishing as tournament runners up.

Their next match will be played on Tuesday 13 October, with the series concluding on Friday 16 October.
