Hockeyroos Finish European Tour in Style
The Hockeyroos finished their European tour with two wins over Ireland in Dublin ensuring a clean sweep of the three test series.
With the first two matches of the series against Ireland being close encounters, the final match was completely controlled by Australia from the beginning.
While captain Madonna Blyth was again a key player for the Hockeyroos, 20 year old striker Emily Hurtz stole the show, scoring three goals. Scoring a goal in each of the three matches against Ireland, Hurtz has been impressive throughout the entire series.
Finding themselves two goals up at half time, the Hockeyroos continued to attack early in the second half, with Hurtz and Megan Rivers scoring once each to set up a commanding 4-0 lead.
A late goal to Ireland at the 60 minute mark brought some credibility to the scoreboard, however the match was already over.
The Hockeyroos will now return to Australia to continue their preparations for the World Cup and Commonwealth Games later in the year.

A goal to Hockeyroos striker Emily Hurtz in the dying stages of the match has handed the Hockeyroos their second consecutive one goal win over Ireland after the two teams faced off in Dublin on the weekend.
With Ireland again taking it right up to the Hockeyroos the game was extremely congested, with Australia finding it almost impossible to penetrate the Ireland defence.
When they were able to enter their circle poor execution meant they did not make the most of their opportunities, keeping Ireland in the match.
However on their sixth penalty corner of the match at the 67 minute mark they got reward for effort, with Hurtz converting the corner to give the Hockeyroos the victory.
