Kookaburras Clipped by India in Azlan Shah

The Kookaburras have suffered a loss to India at the Azlan Shah Cup, going down 4-3 in Malaysia.

The loss is the first time India has beaten Australia since 2003, however saw the young Kookaburras line up with several key players missing go up against a virtually full strength Indian team.

Australia was jumped early by India who are yet to loss a game at the Azlan Shah, conceding three early goals while being unable to find the back of the net themselves in the first half.

The lead could have been even more if Sarwanjit Singh converted two releatively simple shots in front of goal towards the end of the first half.

However the young Kookaburras, who are without key players such as Jamie Dwyer, Des Abbott, Liam De Young, Luke Doerner, Rob Hammond, Mark Knowles and Eddie Ockenden amongst many others at the Azlan Shah, fought back in the second half to score three goals to India’s one, eventually going down 4-3.

The Kookaburras will next face Pakistan on Wednesday 12 May.
