WA’s Lauren Reynolds has boosted her chances of making a third Olympic Games by making the finals at the opening two rounds of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Shepparton.

The back to back opening rounds in Shepparton provided the perfect launching pad for the 2020 season, where Reynolds hopes to be selected in the Australian Team for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The London and Rio Olympian finished fifth in round one on Saturday in a strong showing, with fellow Australia Saya Sakakibara in second. Having breezed through the rounds on Sunday, Reynolds again found herself in the final with a podium in grasp before being caught up in a crash, though still finishing sixth.

Currently ranked fourth in the Olympic Qualifying Rankings, Australia has two quota places for the women’s competition for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Reynolds will be back in action this weekend at round three and four in Bathurst.
