Mitton Strikes in Kookaburras Win Over Belgium
The Kookaburras appear to be on target to defend their Champions Trophy title, after defeating Belgium 7-2 in the first of a two match series in Belgium.
Despite having a young squad the Kookaburras recorded a convincing victory, giving them confidence ahead of the Champions Trophy which begins in Germany on Saturday 31 July.
Goals to Jamie Dwyer (two), Glenn Turner (two), Mark Paterson, Jason Wilson and AIS-WAIS scholarship holder Trent Mitton was enough to secure a comfortable win over the Europeans.
It was a slow start for the Kookaburras, not recording their first goal until the 22 minute mark. However they soon gained control and never looked in danger, recording 25 more circle penetrations than the hosts.
The Kookaburras will play Belgium again on Monday 26 July as their final preparation for the Champions Trophy.
