Six Western Australian water polo athletes have earned selection for the Australian national team at the World League Super Final in Russia.
The team which will be captained by Aaron Younger, also features; George Ford, Andrew Ford, James Fannon, Ed Slade and Tim Putt.
Aaron Younger and George Ford return to the side for the first time since competing at the Rio Olympics in August last year.
WAIS Men’s Water Polo Head Coach, Paul Oberman was also named as the assistant coach of the side alongside Head Coach Elvis Fatovic.
The Sharks earned invitation for the tournament off the back of winning the World League Intercontinental tournament on the Gold Coast last month.
The Sharks made a shaky start to their Super Final campaign, going down to hosts Russia 11-5, but bounced back in their second match – defeating Japan 9-8.
The new look Aussie Sharks will be looking to build momentum over the remainder of the Super Final series ahead of the FINA World Championships which start in Budapest next month.
The Sharks will face Croatia in their final preliminary match tonight at 9:00pm.
