Success for Western Australian 100m Sprint Athletes

Overnight Western Australian 100m sprint athletes, Chad Perris and Ella Pardy, have both qualified for the Rio Paralympic finals in their respective classifications.

Chad Perris competed in the T13 100m sprint, for athletes with visual impairments, where he came first with a time of 10.91 seconds, automatically qualifying him for a spot in the final.

His time, whilst being his own personal best also earned him the title of the new Australian record holder.

Perris will run out of lane seven, as the third fastest qualifier.

Also racing will be Irishman and current world record holder, Jason Smyth who qualified in 10.76 seconds.

Ella Pardy followed up Perris’ stellar performance, where she also automatically qualified for the finals.

Pardy competed in the T38 event, for athletes with cerebral palsy, running a time of 13.30 seconds.

She will enter the finals as the sixth fastest qualifier, running in lane eight. 

Pardy will be racing against the current T38 world record holder, Sophie Hahn who qualified in 12.62 seconds. 

Chad Perris and Ella Pardy will compete in their respective 100m finals in Paralympic competition day two.

T13 100m Sprint Final: 9th September, 9:45pm-10:10pm (WST)

T38 100m Sprint Final: 10th September, 4:40am-7:25am (WST)
