Tupaea Added to 21/U National Squad
Western Australian netballer, Numi Tupaea has today been named as one of three replacement players onto the 2014 Australian 21/U Squad.
A scholarship holder with the Western Australian Institute of Sport, Tupaea has long been associated with the elite levels of WA netball, the ‘West Coast Warrior’ has previously been named in National representative squads on top of her State team inclusions.
She joins Queensland’s Mahalia Cassidy and Victorian Maggie Lind, the girls replacing Kim Ravaillon, who has been named for the Australian Commonwealth Netball Squad, and injured athletes Taylah Davis (NSW) and Gia Abernethy (SA).
Tupaea joins previously selected WAIS athletes Kaylia Stanton and Courtney Bruce in the 22-strong squad – with Stanton and Bruce having been involved with the West Coast Fever in the 2014 ANZ Championship.
The 21/U squad will attend a selection trial between 14-16 September at the Netball Centre of Excellence in Canberra, which coincides with an Australian Diamonds training camp.
A week-long tour of New Zealand is also scheduled in late September and October.
