This weekend will see WAIS athletes compete in World Cup 2 in Racice, Czech Republic against 45 countries.

Alana Nicholls (City Beach) will look to continue her outstanding start to the World Cup campaign by contesting the K1 500m. She will forgo her favoured K1 200m event to line up in the K2 500m with SASI’s Hannah Davis.

Jesse Phillips (Doubleview) and Steve Bird (Doubleview) will again line up in the K2 200m and K2 500m events.

WAIS Head Coachand National Sprint Event Coach Ramon Andersson said, “Alana’s results at World Cup 1 were fantastic considering she had only just got off the plane.”

“This time round she has put together some great training sessions and we will look for her to execute her race plans and with that hopefully gain some more good results.”

“Jesse and Steve seemed to struggle a bit with some delayed jet lag at World Cup 1 after a promising start to the regatta in the heats and semis. They have come good now and I am looking for them to race to their potential this week,” Andersson said.
