The next generation of future Olympic aspirants have arrived in Hungary ahead of the ICF Junior and U23 World Championships which commence today in Szeged, Hungary.

28Australians will contest this year’s World Championships which will feature athletes from 73 countries. Of this group, WAIS has four representatives, with Shannon Reynolds the sole U23 competitor, whilst Alex Graham, Nick Pond and Sam McTigue will make the Junior World Championship debut.

Reynolds will compete in Australia’s women’s K4 500m boat, where she will team with Cat McArthur, Alyssa Bull and Rebecca Mann.

The Australian boat finished ninth at last year’s championships, and will be aiming to improve on that finish this year.

WAIS trio Alex Graham, Nick Pond and Sam McTigue will contest the junior 200m events in Hungary, with Graham lining up in the K1 and Pond and McTigue partnering for the K2.

Racing is scheduled to commence on Thursday 17thJuly at 9am local time (5pm AEST). Racing will conclude on Sunday 20thJuly.
