WAIS water polo athletes have been in action for the Australian school boys and school girls teams that are currently involved in a tri-series with New Zealand and South Africa in Sydney.

The Aussie school boys team features three WAIS scholarship holders, with Luke Pavillard joined by Josh Zekulich and Alexander Bogunovich, whilst Pia Rodgers wore the Australian school girls colours.

The Australian school boys started their campaign with a comprehensive 13-5 win over South Africa with Pavillard scoring three and Bogunovich adding one. Pavillard and goalkeeper Zekulich were named among the best.

Pia Rodgers scored two in the school girls first up 12-5 win over South Africa, with Rodgers named in the list of best players.

South Africa provided the boys with a much sterner test in their second clash, with the Australian’s forced to dig deep in recording a 12-9 victory. Pavillard starred again, this time scoring five goals in the side’s win.

Rodgers provided three goals for the Australian school girls in their second consecutive win over South Africa (14-8).

A Pavillard double and a single to Bogunovich helped Australia to a 7-4 win over New Zealand with the latter along with goalkeeper Zekulich named amongst Australia’s best.

Pia Rodgers kept her scoring streak going, with her goal helping the girls to a nail-biting 8-7 win over New Zealand.

The tri-series runs through to this weekend.
