Dual Olympian Zoe Arancini helped the Aussie Stingers to a win in their first match with an 8-5 win over Canada.

Despite having not played an international match in 18 months, the Aussie Stingers made a strong start and never looked out of control after the first goal to Bronte Halligan in the first minute.

Goals followed by Abby Andrews, Arancini, Keesja Gofers, Rowie Webster and Bron Knox to show their class. Lea Yanitsas gave her team the upper edge, proving crucial in goals for the Aussie Stingers with an incredible 13 saves from shot at goal.

“That was huge, it was so much fun out there. The girls around me did all the work and I was just lucky enough to put the balls away,” said Halligan.

The Aussie Stingers will be back in action on Monday 26 July at 6:50PM, Perth Time when they face the Netherlands, who make their return to the Olympic stage after a 13 year hiatus.
