11 WAIS athletes ready to chase medals at 2022 FINA World Championships

17 Western Australian athletes ready to line up at 2022 FINA World Championships across swimming, diving, water polo, open water swimming and artistic swimming.

Swimming (18-25 June)

Reigning world champion Brianna Throssell returns looking to earn more gold to her fast growing selection. With relays in focus, the Olympic gold medallist could return with a four or five medal haul. Graduates Zac Incerti will be looking to add World Championship medals to his Tokyo Olympic success, while Josh Edwards-Smith will make his debut.

Diving (26 June – 3 July)

Tokyo Olympian Nikita Hains has earned a maiden World Championship selection and will look to make the final after her Olympic debut last year. Back from injury 2019 gold medallist Maddison Keeney will return to the world stage with here eyes on more medals.

Water Polo (20 June – 3 July)

Stingers stallwart Zoe Arancini will captain the Stingers for the first time at World Championship level. A two time medallist including bronze three years ago they will be eyeing further up the podium. In the men’s Tokyo Olympians George Ford and Tim Putt will lead the WA contingent with John Hedges and Luke Pavillard making their debuts.

Open Water Swimming (26-27 and 29-30 June)

After winning medals at the National Championships earlier in the year and claiming his first Rottnest Channel Swim victory, Kyle Lee will make his debut at this level eyeing the podium.

Artistic Swimming (17-25 June)

With the National Team finetuning their preparations at WAIS and HBF Stadium before flying to Hungary, six WA athletes will make their debut as Artistic Swimming builds for the future.
