Aussie Sailors under Pressure

The Aussies need almost perfect races to stay in contention for a Medal.

The Australian Three-Person Keelboat (Sonar) including WAIS’s Colin Harrison got off to a great start on day one coming 1st and third in their first two races.

A slight glitch appeared when they were disqualified in race 3 but they recovered well by placing 2nd in their 4th race.

After more disappointing results from day four, placing 7th and 9th respectively, it will be a tough competition for a medal.

“We had good speed out on the water, we felt we made the right decisions but at the end of the day we lost out to boats that made better decisions than us at critical times,” said Harris.

The light winds also didn’t favour Australia who are one of the heaviest crews in the competition.

There are currently three boats in 3rd place, our Aussies being one of them.
