Bruce Named for 2018 Quad Series

Published On: 3 November 2017

After a number of excellent performances at both the 2017 Netball Quad Series and the Constellation Cup, Western Australian Courtney Bruce has earned herself selection as part of the Samsung Diamonds squad that will travel to England and South Africa in January to contest the 2018 Netball Quad Series.

After making her debut in the August/September 2017 Netball Quad Series, Bruce has continued to evolve her game, eventually cementing herself as Australia’s starting goal keeper in last month’s Constellation Cup against New Zealand.

The 2018 Series will be the Diamond’s last tour before a team is selected to compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

“It means the world to me,” said Bruce of her Quad Series selection.

“I’m keen to see how much more I can improve my game and challenge myself to get more ball.”

“I’ve learnt a lot about myself as a player and a person from the last Quad Series, and was able to implement some changes in the Constellation Cup, so I am excited to see what I can put out on court in January.”

To date Bruce has notched up an impressive 19 interceptions and 45 deflections for Australia from just seven matches, statistics which are sure to rise as she gains further opportunities on the international stage.

The 14-person Diamonds squad will next meet at the Netball Centre of Excellence in Canberra from the 11th to the 14th of January for a Commonwealth Games Simulation Camp prior to flying to England for their first match of the 2018 Quad Series against the South Africa SPAR Proteas.
