Coles to Defend Commonwealth Title

Reigning Commonwealth champion Laura Coles has been confirmed on Australia’s 28–strong Shooting team for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Coles made a name for herself at the Glasgow Games in 2014, when on debut, she produced the performance of her life to win gold in the women’s skeetfinal.

She earned the winafter hitting 14 of 16 targets during the gold medal shoot-off at the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre against Welsh opponent Elena Allen.

Nowat 30 years of age, Coles has made a career out of shooting, with the Hocking resident also the proprietor of the popular Hot Shots Shooting business in Whiteman.

Coles will again focus on the skeet discipline at the Gold CoastCommonwealthGames with competition to be contested at the Belmont Shooting Centre in Brisbane.

The Skeet preliminaries and final will both be contested on Sunday April 8.

Western Australia now has three athletes officially selected on the 2018 Australian Commonwealth Games team with Coles joining boxer Caitlin Parker and world champion wheelchair racer Madison de Rozario.
