Demons Haunt WAIS in WA Premier League Clash

The WAIS Netball team suffered a 70-42 defeat at the hands of the Midland Demons in this week’s WA Premier League contest.

The WAIS squad was out played and out muscled in this contest, with the Demons making a strong start to establish an early lead.

WAIS were unable to slow the tempo of the Demons attack, which was spearheaded by WAIS scholarship holder Ash Neal, who shot a perfect 22 from 22.

WAIS head netball coach Michelle Wilkins was disappointed her squad couldn’t find the right measure to shut out the Demons forward line.

“Our defensive players were down on previous form and we were unable to curtail the physical strength of the Demons attack,” she said.

Denise Shepley entered the match at wing attack in the second half and proved a strong option for WAIS in the second period.

WAIS produced a more competitive display and displayed better use of the ball, but the damage was already done.

WAIS athlete Sarah East continued to show positive leadership on court for WAIS, finishing with an 85% shooting average in a match which was dominated by the opposition defence.
