Diamonds Squad Selected for Constellation Cup Series

Caitlin Bassett and Courtney Bruce have earned selection
in the Australian Diamonds Constellation Cup squad for the four-test series to
be played in New Zealand and Australia.

RAC Arena in Perth will host the fourth test on Sunday,
October 27 which could determine which side wins the Cup.

For Bruce, it will be her first test for the Diamonds in
her hometown but it was touch and go as to whether she would get the
opportunity after she suffered a punctured lung in the penultimate round of the
Super Netball season.

Luckily for her, the Diamonds and local netball fans, she
got given the medical go ahead and earned the tick of approval from team selectors.

Australia will be looking for redemption after surprisingly
losing to the Silver Ferns in the final of the Netball World Cup earlier in the
year.

The Diamonds had enjoyed a competitive edge over their
trans-Tasman rivals in recent times, but that was turned on its head in the
final, with the Kiwis winning an absolute thriller.

Australia head coach Lisa Alexander said she was
expecting nothing different in this four-test series.

“The rivalry and respect between the Diamonds and Silver
Ferns is immense and it’s always such a great battle – we’re so looking forward
to playing four, no doubt, thrilling matches.”
