Katherine Downie, once again swimming the third leg in another Paralympic relay, has helped contribute to another Gold medal for Australia in the pool.

In once of the most exciting races of the games, the Australian women’s 4x 100m medley 34point team have come out with a nail bitting Gold.

The team which included WAIS athlete Katherine Downie, won the race, clocking in at 4:53:95 in front of Great Britain who clocked in at 4:53:98. The race finished with an extraordinary last leg, which included Australia’s anchor Jacqueline Freney, swimming with super powers to bring Australia home for the gold.

At the young age of 16, Downie has done an amazing job at these London games, racing in eight finals of her nine events and coming out with two gold medals in the team relays. An impressive feat to say the least for this young woman.
