WAIS Paralympic swimmer, Katherine Downie, was just shy of the Bronze medal in her first race at the games.

Downie qualifying for six races in London, just missed out on a medal by .069 milliseconds to China’s Meng Zhang in her first race of the 200m individual Medley.

New Zealand’s Sophie Pascoe smashed the WR, swimming the race in an impressive time of 2.25.65, while Downie clocked in at 2.34.64, a hair behind her personal best.

Downie however is nowhere near finished with her London experience. She will swim in five more events, her last being on the second to last day of the Paralympic Games on day 10.

Downie’s next swim is the 50m freestyle, which will take place later on today.
