Western Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder Blair Evans has received an early Christmas present after winning a set of gold medals at the FINA ARENA Swimming World Cup meet in Singapore last weekend.

Evans – who made her World Championship debut this year in Rome – produced two good swims to win the 800m and 400m freestyle events.

The City of Perth swimmer took first place in the 800m in a time of 8:17.21min. 18 year-old Evans also won the 400m freestyle in a time of 4:02.77min giving herself the distance double.

WAIS athlete Ayrton Dickey also competed in Singapore competing in the 100m individual medley and the 50m backstroke.

Dickey finished seventh in both events, with the fellow City of Perth club member recording a solid time of 25.09sec in the 50m backstroke.

Both swimmers will now travel to Canberra to compete in the AIS Speedo International on Wednesday.
