Published On: 27 July 2014

The Australian Diamonds have recorded a comprehensive 77-27 win over Barbados in their Pool B match at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The Diamonds made light work of their ninth ranked opponents, winning each quarter to ensure they remain top of their group and undefeated heading towards the semi finals stage.

Having recorded a one goal win against England on Saturday, Australia was quick out of the blocks against Barbados, easing to a 20-9 quarter time lead.

The Diamonds took the opportunity to rest WA shooting duo Caitlin Bassett and Natalie Medhurst, with Cailtin Thwaite and Tegan Caldwell instead leading the Australian attack.

The duo shared the workload, scoring 42 and 35 goals respectively as the Australian Diamonds took complete control of the match.

Australia next face Trinidad and Tobago on Day 5, from 6.30pm Perth time.
