WAIS swimmer Blair Evans has continued her golden run in the World Cup series, this time in Beijing, winning the 200m freestyle.

Evans who won gold in the 200m and 400m freestyle in Singapore at the weekend, showed she is in a rich vein of form by setting a new personal best in China, touching the wall in 1:54.81. Evans finished ahead of fellow West Australian Merindah Dingjan (1:55.03) and Kylie Palmer (1:55.75) in a straight three finish for the Australian contingent.

The City of Perth swimmer said she was happy with her progress on the three leg world cup series, following her first event in Beijing with the 400m freestyle still to come.

“That swim was very close, if not a PB for me and I’m obviously very happy with the swim,” Evans said.

“My goal was to build through the three meets and I’m getting faster as I go so everything seems to be on track.”

Evans training partner and dual Olympian Travis Nederpelt finished eighth in the men’s 200m butterfly (1:59.42). The victory went to South African swimmer Chad Le Clos in 1:51.74.
