WA training partners Teju Williamson and Nikita Hains have taken the top two spots in the Platform final at the Australian Elite Junior Diving Championships in Perth.

Competing in the familiar surrounds of HBF Stadium, Williamson and Hains engaged in a high quality 10m showdown on Sunday, marking themselves as two of the country’s most promising athletes.

Williamson earned gold by attracting a total score of 424.25 which was just ahead of Hains’ aggregate of 421.75.

The pair swapped lead on a number of occasions over the course of competition, with Hains entering the final round with the benefit of a 20 point advantage. Williamson however, produced her highest scoring dive of the competition with a clutch last dive that saw her overtake her friend for gold.

The result was a sweet sign-off for the 18 year-old Nedlands resident, who is preparing to relocate to Brisbane where she will train at the National Centre of Excellence.

The duo were joined in the final by fellow WA athlete Tamara Irvine who scored 356.30 for seventh place. Irvine also competed in the 3m springboard final, taking fifth place with a total score of 416.40.

Overall, the WA team produced an impressive campaign across the various age groups, finishing with two gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
