Roberts Makes International Racing Return

Kayaker Jaime Roberts has raced at the Szeged World Cup event in Hungary over the weekend taking a fourth place finish in the women’s K4 500m B Final.

Making her first representative appearance for Australia since the 2015 international season, the Bullsbrook resident teamed with Cat McArthur, Alyssa Bull and Alyce Burnett in the four person event, as the Australians paddled home fourth in their heat and followed up with a seventh ranking in their semi-final.

These results, saw the Australians qualify through for the B Final, where they finished in fourth position behind Denmark, Canada and Poland. The A Final was won by New Zealand.

Roberts also contested the K1 200m and K2 500m events in Szeged in what proved a busy international opener for the 26 year-old.

She exited competition at the semi-final stage of both events, partnering McArthur in the two person boat.

Alyssa Bull highlighted Australia’s campaign by winning a silver medal in the K1 1000m event, whilst she and Burnett also impressed with a fifth place effort in the K2 500m final.

The World Cup circuit next moves on to the Serbian capital of Belgrade from June 2.
