Seven WAIS swimmers will represent Australia across able and para events at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after impressing at the Australian Swimming Championships in Adelaide.

2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Brianna Throssell has earned a second Games selection. A win in the 100m butterfly and bronze in the 200 has earned Throssell, two individual swims in Birmingham, with relay selections to be confirmed closer to the Games.

She is joined by 2018 teammate Holly Barratt, who at 34 will pull on the green and gold again. Another national title in the 50m butterfly will see Barratt look to find the top step of the podium after claiming silver four years ago.

Graduate Zac Incerti, who claimed two medals at the Tokyo Olympics last year claimed a maiden national title in the 200m freestyle as well as silver in the 100 to earn him two individual berths. Incerti is likely to also play key roles in the 4×100 and 4x200m freestyle relays.

Having represented Australia at junior level, graduate Josh Edwards-Smith has earned a maiden open team debut after storming to victory in the 200m backstroke.

Josh Yong will make his Australian debut in Birmingham, having claimed silver in the 100m breaststroke to earn an individual swim, with a medley relay swim potentially on the cards.

Rounding out the able WA representatives is Kieren Pollard who will compete in the 400m individual medley.

They are joined by the previously selected, 17-year-old Alex Saffy, who will compete in the 100m butterfly S10 after impressing at the Para National Championships.
