Sprinters and middle distance runners in action at Canberra Track Classic

Following strong performances by in the opening two months of the year, WA’s top sprinters and middle distance runners turn their attention to the Canberra Track Classic, March 11.

The event the second of the Coles Summer Super Series, sees Australia’s best athletes in action as they work towards the Australian Championships in April and qualification for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Brianna Beahan will line up in a stacked 100m hurdles field as she eyes off the Olympic automatic qualifying time of 12.84secs. Beahan’s competition includes Liz Clay, Celeste Mucci and Michelle Jenneke.

Tokyo bound Rhiannon Clarke will race in the 100m ambulatory, following a win in U20 category at the WA State Championships last month. Robyn Lambird competes in the 100m wheelchair, as she works towards Paralympic selection.

Fresh from wins at the opening round of the Coles Summer Super Series, Peter Bol, Chad Perris and Madison de Rozario continue their seasons. With her ticket to Tokyo already in her pocket de Rozario continues her preparation with the 1500m wheelchair. Perris in the 100m ambulatory, and Bol in the 800m eye Paralympic and Olympic selection of their own.

Target Talent Program athlete Taylah Cruttenden will also be in action, lining up in the 100m, against Australia’s top sprinters. The 17-year-old continues to impress with her recent results including the 100-200 double at the WA State Championships at the end of February.
