State Honours for WA Diver Hains

Nikita Hains won a state title in the Girls A 10m platform at the 2018 Elite Junior Championships at HBF Stadium highlighting the weekend competition program.

The Venues West brand ambassador executed an impressive series of dives to record a total score of 428.30 to earn state honours.

The former gymnast is considered one of Australia’s best age divers and she will look to build on her state success at this month’s national championships in Queensland.

Zoe Langtry earned victory in the Girls B 1m springboard competition, fetching 391.30 points to finish ahead of training partner Chelsea Bosch (356.40).

Bosch won a state title of her own in the 3m springboard, with a score of 398.10.

Meanwhile, WAIS graduate diver and recent Commonwealth Games representative Teju Williamson has competed at FINA World Series events in Canada and Russia.

She teamed with Melissa Wu in the 10m synchro with the pair getting off to a shaky start in Canada before bouncing back in style in Russia, with the duo recording a fourth place finish amongst a high quality field.

Williamson also received the opportunity to contest the individual 10m platform in Kazan, with the 19 year-old making the semi-finals. Wu collected a bronze medal in the final.

Attention will now turn to the 2018 Australian Open Championships which will be held in Brisbane from May 23. These Championships will determine selections for Australia’s representative team for the 2018 international season.
