WA Parliamentary Friends Road to Paris

Published On: 4 May 2024

It was wonderful to join the Parliamentary Friends of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements for a night of celebrations.

The event at Parliament House in Perth welcomed Paralympics Australia President Alison Creagh AM CSC and Australian Olympic Committee President Ian Chesterman AM as well as a wide range of sport, community, business and government representatives, as we look forward to the teams departing for Paris later this year.

In attendance were Paralympians and Olympians alike. Tokyo bronze medallist in women’s discus F64 Sarah Edmiston took part in a panel alongside two-time Olympian and Hockeyroo Grace Stewart. They each shared their personal stories of triumph, perseverance, and resilience. Their stories serve as a testament to the transformative power of sport to inspire and unite.

The event follows a record investment by the WA Government of $375,000 for the Australian Olympic and Paralympic Team Appeals.
