The WAIS Netball team took part in a practise match with the visiting Malaysian National Squad this week scoring a comfortable win.

The Malaysian squad consists of both Open and U21 players. They are utilising this tour to select their national teams for upcoming International competitions.

This was a great opportunity for the WAIS athletes to experience an international style of play and the match was contested with great sportsmanship in a positive atmosphere.

The WAIS players were sharper and stronger in their skills and court play and maintained a steady application across the five quarter match. WAIS won convincingly 62-26.

WAIS backed up their efforts against the Malaysian team in their Premier League match against League favourite, the Midland Brick Demons.

WAIS were able to raise their intensity levels and maintain their focus across four quarters. WAIS lead at each change and whilst they dropped away during the last quarter to allow the Demons back into the game, they held strong to finish with an encouraging three goal win.

Sarah East and youngster Ellie Smart presented strongly in the goal circle, whilst centre court Tess Cransberg has shown a steep learning curveand showcased excellent improvements from her previous matches.

The defensive players ensured the Demons worked hard for every possession with Sarah Tatam, Mia Washbourne and Alice Coakley consistently closing down the Demons options. The trio also helped implement team strategies from back court.
