WAIS Netballers Scoop Awards at Netball WA Dinner

The 2013 Netball WA Annual Awards Dinner was held in the Astral Ballroom at Crown Perth recently in front of 400 guests.

Over 30 awards and honours were presented on the night, with WAIS athletes featuring prominently in the 2013 Team of the Year.

WAIS athlete Numi Tupaea was awarded the State 19U MVP for her efforts in representing WA at the 19U National Championships. Her West Coast Falcons club mate and fellow WAIS scholarship holder – Denise Shepley – was awarded the 21U MVP for her outstanding campaign at the 21U National Championships.

WAIS athlete Alice Coakley scooped the MVP Award for the 2013 Australian Netball League season, for her fine form with the Western Sting.

The 2013 State League – Team of the Year featured five WAIS scholarship holders, in the following positions:

Goal Shooter – Kate Beveridge

Goal Attack – Ellie Smart

Wing Attack – Ingrid Colyer

Wing Defence – Alicia Janz

Goal Keeper – Courtney Bruce

In other Netball news, WAIS athlete Andrea Gilmore has signed with Adelaide Thunderbirds for the 2014 ANZ Championship season. Gilmore played 69 matches for the West Coast Fever, with the majority of her appearances played at wing defence.
