Zoe Timmers claimed sixth place at the Universiade

WAIS athletics quartet Amanda Bisk, Jody Henry, Zoe Timmers and Ellen Pettitt have all completed their Universiade campaigns in Belgrade, posting solid results.

Sprinter Henry ran in the 100m in Serbia, finishing second in her heat to qualify for the semi-finals with a time of 11.87. Unfortunately that was as far as she got, with the World Championships representative missing out on a berth in the final after finishing fifth in her semi in a time of 11.83.

Pole vaulter Bisk qualified for the final of the women’s pole vault in fifth position after clearing 4.10m in qualifying. She finished the final in ninth place with a best clearance of 4.20m.

High jumpers Timmers and Pettitt also both qualifed for the final in the women’s high jump, clearing 1.80m and 1.85m respectively to earn their places after qualifying. Timmers bettered her jump in the final, jumping 1.85m to finish in sixth place overall, whilst Pettitt could only manage 1.80m which was good enough for 12th place.

Henry and Bisk will now remain on tour, with Bisk set to compete in a series of meets in Europe while Henry will concentrate on the 400m in preparation for the 4x400m relay at the World Championships in Berlin.
