WAIS Swimmers Take Home Awards

Blair Evans was named Swimmers Swimmer of the Year

A number of WAIS swimmers have taken home awards after Swimming WA held their annual awards function over the weekend.

Blair Evans, Rhys Mainstone, Katrina Porter and Brianna Throssell were all recognised after stellar 2008-09 swimming seasons whilst West Coast head coach and WAIS network coach Mel Tantrum was also honoured.

2009 World Championships team member Blair Evans was awarded the Swimmers Swimmer of the Year, an awards decided by a peer vote by WA Swimmers.

Fellow Rome bound swimmer Rhys Mainstone took out the Open Water Swimmer of the Year gong whilst young star Brianna Throssell was named Junior Swimmer of the Year after an outstanding age nationals.

Paralympic Gold Medalist and world record holder Katrina Porter was recognised as the Swimmer with a Disability of the Year following her stand out performances in Beijing, with her coach Mel Tantrum selected from a high quality field as the Coach of the Year.

Former WAIS swimmer Eamon Sullivan took out the major award of the morning, named Swimmer of the Year for the second year in a row.
