WAIS sailor Matthew Wearn currently sits fourth in the men’s laser at the 2013 Delta Lloyd Regatta World Cup event in the Netherlands.

Wearn made a bright start to his campaign on day one of competition, fetching three top ten positions from the three races.

He opened with a fourth, before a seventh place finish, with a second to wrap up the day’s sailing, with the 17 year-old third overall.

The second competition day was effected by strong winds, but with a further two races completed, Wearn’s position shifted to fourth overall, followinga race win first up, coupled with a 10thplace finish in the latter race.

The Medemblik course was inactive for the most part of the day, after 25-30 knot winds made racing impossible. It was not until after 5pm local time that the 470 and laser class boats could commence, with the wind conditions having finally subsided.

Racing continues today, with an earlier start time scheduled to make up for lost time. Full results can be found at http://www.deltalloydregatta.org/
