World Champions Heading to Perth

Western Australia will play host to the next rematch between the Australian Diamonds and New Zealand Silver Ferns on 23 October, with tickets going on sale Wednesday for the 2011 Holden Netball Test Series.

The Diamonds avenged their 2010 Commonwealth Games defeat with a thrilling extra-time victory over their archrivals, the Silver Ferns, at the World Netball Championships with a last second goal from Western Australia’s Caitlin Bassett on Sunday.

Perth fans will be treated to a fest of international netball with two matches for the price of one with World Championship quarter-finalists South Africa and Malawi to do battle as a precursor at 9amto the 104th trans-Tasman international which starts at 11am.

With the head to head series levelled at one game apiece after the Diamonds pre-championships Tour of New Zealand in June, the Constellation Cup will be awarded to the winner of the five-Test series.

International netball will be joining international hockey in a celebration of sport in October to celebrate the arrival of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth.
